Inside the exhibition
You don’t just look here — you create: choose a photograph of the Bosphorus and a colour that never existed. Within seconds, your own unique image appears, encoded with the date and time of your visit. No moment repeats. The foundation: nearly 10,000 photographs of the Bosphorus surface by Faruk Bil, set in motion by computational artist Calin Segal (music: O.Bee) — four stations across five rooms on two floors.

Introduction to the exhibition
The archive had a limit: one gaze, one life. To move beyond it, the work opened — together with Calin Segal — into a generative phase: visitors choose a photograph and colours that never existed before, and within seconds the system generates a new image of the Bosphorus. No moment is static. No colour repeats. Every encounter is encoded by the exact date and time of presence.
The experience marks a detachment from prescribed narratives and from the digital loop that reduces viewing to limited data cycles. Its living architecture rejects uniformity and values diversity, divergence and emergence. As long as a presence remains in the room, the work does not end.
Why P61, why now: a museum-grade digital environment — 100+ displays and HD LED architecture across eight rooms — meets a conceptually grounded, experimental art practice. On Potsdamer Straße, once a dividing line between two systems, the encounter with art itself becomes a living field of becoming.

Artists
Faruk Bil, PhD
His artistic inquiry centres on temporality and freedom. Galatasaray High School; economics degrees (BA, MA 1983); twenty-five years in advertising before turning to art as an autodidact. PhD in Fine Arts in 2020 while teaching semiotics at Yeditepe University.
Calin Segal
Studied architecture in Paris and began with humanitarian projects before moving to computational media. He builds installations from computational models in which systemic dynamics become perceptible. Works shown at Nuit Blanche Paris (2018) and Ars Electronica (2025).
